Stevie Leigh is ready to collaborate with you to transform your mom's vintage wedding dress into your own modern wedding dress or suit! Stevie Leigh has years of experience upcycling garments into new designs and is excited to work with you to honor a sentimental heirloom and create apparel or accessories for you to wear on your big day!
Stevie can work with you in person at her studio in Lakewood, CO or remotely anywhere in the world through video call and email. We can upcycle vintage wedding dresses into new wedding dresses, rehearsal dinner dresses, bridal shower outfits, suits, blazers, dressing robes, bridal veils or almost any other garment you desire!

_{Standard turnaround for upcycled/redesigned wedding dresses is 4 weeks*, rush orders are accommodated upon availability for additional fee of 15% total labor cost. Custom projects require a minimum deposit of 50% of estimated cost with a minimum of $200.

Erika's upcycled wedding dress:

As a strong advocate for sustainability, bride Erika wanted her wedding dress to exemplify her values. Erika brought her mother's 1980s wedding dress to us and asked if we could modernize the style and alter it to fit her while still keeping intact the beautiful lace details. We said yes, of course!

We removed the puffy sleeves, added material to the back to increase the size, added a crinoline layer under the skirt to add volume and hemmed the gown.

Some brides prefer to utilize their mother's wedding dress without making it the star of the show. We can upcycle vintage wedding dresses into almost anything!

A few examples of what we've created for new brides are wedding veils using the lace trim appliqué from the hem of their mother's gown and a dressing robe to be worn while the bride is having her hair and makeup done before the big event! We have expertise in creating just about any type of garment and can upcycle your mom's wedding dress into anything you'd like!

How the process works...

Step 1

Book your initial appointment! At this appointment, you will bring in the dress you want upcycled/redesigned and discuss your wedding dress redesign vision with Stevie Leigh. Stevie will give you an estimate for the total cost of the work and if you're ready to proceed, you will sign your design contract and pay your starting deposit (50% of estimated cost). Then Stevie will take your measurements and get to work!

Step 2

Stevie will start by deconstructing the original dress. Next, depending on the desired design, Stevie will either make alterations to the original design or make a completely new pattern and use the fabric from the original dress to create the new garment.

Step 3

When the redesign is complete, you will meet for a second appointment where you will try on your new garment. If necessary, further alterations can be made to the design. If everything is perfect, you can take your new design home and get ready to wear it on your big day!
